MJ's Story
"Train for your sport, not just for the gym."
MJ came to Peak Human Performance with one clear objective:
Become stronger and more resilient for mountain biking.
Like many high-performing professionals, she had an extremely demanding work schedule, making recovery and sleep her biggest limiting factors.
She also struggled with a persistent problem on long rides.
After hours of descending technical trails, her lower back would fatigue and eventually become so sore that it affected her for days afterwards.
Rather than simply making her stronger, we first addressed the foundation of recovery.
Once her sleep improved and her recovery capacity increased, her body finally became ready to adapt.
From there, we built a programme specifically around the demands of mountain biking.
Because of her lower back history, we avoided excessive spinal loading and instead focused on developing strength through the hips and posterior chain, allowing her legs and glutes to become significantly stronger while protecting her spine. At the same time, we progressively strengthened her lower back and upper body, improving the stability and endurance needed to handle long, demanding descents.
The transformation was remarkable.
MJ achieved:
- +3.5 kg of lean muscle mass
- 2.6% reduction in body fat
- Significant improvements in upper-body, posterior-chain and lower-back strength
- A stronger, more resilient body built specifically for mountain biking
Her transformation wasn't just visible in the mirror.
It translated directly onto the trails.
She could ride longer, recover better and tackle demanding descents with greater strength and confidence.
At Peak Human Performance, we don't train people to look better in the gym. We identify the physical demands of their sport or lifestyle and build a body that performs where it matters most.
