Seb's Story

"The hardest step wasn't the training. It was making the commitment."

Seb and I worked together as engineers during the construction of the Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Plant in Bristol. From the day we met, I could see he had exceptional athletic potential.

As a former rugby player and experienced lifter, he already had a solid foundation. I encouraged him several times to begin a transformation, but he always declined.

It wasn't until I had moved to China that he finally reached out.

He was ready.

Before we started, I asked him what had changed. His answer was simple.

"I was afraid to commit because I enjoyed going out too much."

Once he committed, we first identified his biggest limiting factor.

It wasn't his training.

It wasn't his nutrition.

It was his sleep.

Although Seb was training hard, he was only sleeping around 6–6.5 hours per night. Before increasing the training load, we focused on optimising his recovery, gradually improving his sleep to a consistent 8 hours of deep, restorative sleep. Only then did we optimise his nutrition and progressively intensify his training.

To achieve exceptional results, every parameter has to work togetherβ€”sleep, nutrition, recovery and training.

The transformation that followed was extraordinary.

In just 8 weeks, Seb:

  • Lost 6.5% body fat
  • Maintained his body weight at 90 kg
  • Built approximately 6 kg of lean muscle mass
  • Became significantly stronger while achieving a lean, athletic physique

What impressed me even more wasn't the transformation itselfβ€”it was what happened afterwards.

Nearly a decade later, Seb sent me an updated photo.

He hadn't returned to his old habits.

Instead, he had continued applying the principles he learned during those eight weeks. Judging by his physique, he now appears to be around 5–7% body fat, proving that the transformation was never just about the programmeβ€”it was about changing his lifestyle.

At Peak Human Performance, we don't just write training programmes. We identify your weakest link, strengthen it first, and then build every other pillar around it. That's how sustainable, life-changing transformations are achieved.
